January Message from Our President
January 12, 2022
Dear Fellow Crooked Creek Art League Members:
Welcome to the New Year of 2022! We are so excited to start off this year with one of our own being a presenter. Anne Hightower-Patterson White, national award winner, is critiquing some of our members' artwork with “An Eye on Composition” for our January 17th, 2022 meeting. If you want a piece presented, please email Anne at patter816@aol.com before Friday, January 14th. This meeting will be Zoom only with the rising cases of Covid-19. The zoom will open between 5:30 and 5:45 for socializing. Meeting will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. The Zoom Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89404936824 is for all general meetings.
Since we are meeting virtually this month, please pick up your pictures that are currently in the TAP Gallery. Drop by Crooked Creek Park and hang your “Boats” which is the theme for January. February TAP theme will be “Lake Scenes”.
We have some great workshops positions still available. If you are interested, please sign up asap. Registration for the workshops can be completed through our website by clicking on the Events/Calendar and then on Workshops.
Let's Get Serious about Drawing with Russell Jewell will begin Fri, Feb 04th, Art Room at Crooked Creek Park. Russell Jewell has been with us before and is an excellent teacher.
The principles of abstraction with Larry Moore, Thursday, March 3rd through Saturday March 5th, Art Room Crooked Creek. Larry is the juror for our Spring Show. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from him.
Create Photos Like a Pro with your iPhone with Erdal Caba, Sat, Mar 19, Art Room at Crooked Creek Park. Note the times are NOT our usual workshop times: March 19th 9am-1 pm & March 20th 1-5pm. Erdal has won numerous awards throughout the state.
Our Fall Still Hopes Exhibition was successful thus far. The reception was attended by a larger crowd than normal. Parking provided easy access to the reception. This show provides the opportunity for numerous sales. If anyone else has sold a piece, please contact Bobbi Sorensen to make sure we have it marked as sold. Participating Art League members have sold as many as 10 pieces in a year. We currently have 4 confirmed sales this year. All members are invited to participate in the reception even if you chose not to enter. Pick up from Still Hopes will be 10:00-1:00 at Crooked Creek Park on January 29th, 2022. Please make arrangements to come get your work that has not sold as early as possible on this date. We still need helpers to help with pickup.
Congratulations to Kimberly Case for being accepted into the Art Fields Show in Lake City this Spring. Good Luck, Kimberly! Two former members were accepted as well.
Speaking of membership, we have some who have not yet reached MIGS status. Please check the list emailed out earlier to make sure you qualify to enter the Spring Show. We have purged the names of all members who have not renewed as of December 31st, 2021. If you know of someone who has not and intended to rejoin, please let them know.
Deadline for our Spring Juried Show is rapidly approaching. Our Juried Show Chairmen, Kay Stallings and Lisa Alberghini, are busy planning our Spring show. They would like for anyone that would kindly help find sponsors to contact them for information. If you have a friend or a business acquaintance that you would kindly approach about sponsorships, it will be greatly appreciated. Please contact Mary Collette at mcollette99@gmail.com or our Co-Chairs with this information. (kaystallings94@gmail.com or lisa_alberghini@yahoo.com). Please make sure you are keeping up with your emails so as not to miss anything.
I look forward to 2022 being a successful year for the Crooked Creek Art League. Thank each of you for all you do to make us successful. Thank you to each board member and committee chair for all of your hard work also.
Respectfully,
Kay Fox, President
