A Message from Our President
February 2, 2021
Greetings to CCAL Members:
It is my hope that all of you are still healthy and that we will soon be able to meet in person.
February Meeting
Our presenter for the February 15 meeting will be Ryan Fox, who is also the juror for this year’s 26th Annual Juried Art Exhibit and the March 5-6 workshop presenter. As posted on our website, “During the meeting, Ryan will demonstrate a graphic approach to watercolor using black paint, then covering it to create an atmospheric look unique to watercolor.” He will be using a three-color limited palette. It is always interesting to watch an artist as he/she creates.
Workshops
Mark your calendars and register now for “Watercolor Loose & Fast: A Workshop with Ryan Fox” on March 5 and 6 at Crooked Creek Park. It has recently been decided to make this a virtual workshop. Ryan is well positioned to do a great job with this as he's already been doing other teaching online. Registration may be completed on our website under Events/Calendar/Workshops. You may also send a check reserving your spot to Carol Blackwood, Workshop Coordinator, 252 Newpark Place, Columbia, SC 29212. Deposit for the workshop is $50, or full payment is $125 for members and $150 for non-members.
Still Hopes Exhibition
A big “Thank You” to Renea Eshelman for coordinating the event, Bobbi Sorensen for preparing the tags, CCAL members who helped with intake and pick-up, and most importantly to all our members who entered.
TAP Gallery
The theme for February is “Brrr, It’s Cold”. If you have a winter painting or photograph that you will share, please drop it by the park and hang it in the TAP Gallery.
Annual Contest
As a reminder, the theme for this year's annual contest is SC Feathered Friends & Wildlife. We will all share our artwork in the contest at our May meeting. Participation is open to all Crooked Creek Art League members. Art work must be original and completed within the last 3 years. Please consider adding a piece of your artwork to this fun competition.
