On Tuesday, April 25, CCAL was pleased to hold a public dedication ceremony for:
“Spirit of the Lake”
and induct it to the Chapin Art Trail.
In partnership with the Town of Chapin, the Crooked Creek Art League was pleased to hold a public Dedication Ceremony and unveiling for the newest public art installation and addition to the Chapin Art Trail.
The public was invited to attend the Dedication Ceremony on Tuesday, April 25. A great crowd attended and showed their support.
The artwork, titled “Spirit of the Lake” is a permanent addition to the Chapin Art Trail. The artwork is a seven-foot tall three sided obelisk sculpture incorporating mosaic as well as ceramic elements that represent the flora and fauna of Chapin and Lake Murray.
The artist’s intent is to reflect the unique natural beauty in and around the town. The artwork is designed to represent the area and compliment the other art on the trail, but also be visually unique and striking in a way that will appeal to everyone. No matter the differences in a diverse population, everyone can appreciate the beauty and splendor of the plants and animals that surround us.
Crooked Creek Art League (CCAL) and the Town of Chapin are committed to infusing the area with exciting public art. The goal is to shine a light on the vibrant arts scene in Chapin and surrounding lake communities.
CCAL is grateful to the Central Carolina Community Foundation for the Community Impact Fund Grant that made this project possible. Additional assistance was provided by grant funding from the South Carolina Arts Commission. The project also could not have been undertaken without the outstanding support of the local business community. CCAL welcomes your support in continuing to make a difference for the artists and art in our community. We invite you to join CCAL members and others from the community in supporting growth of the visual arts in the Lake Murray region.
