November 2017 Presenter: Robert "Bob" Woodwyk, CPA

Local CPA, Robert J. Woodwyk, will be discussing tax issues for artists. He will answer our question and give guidance on how and when it is appropriate to incorporate as well as other tax and business issues that relate to the aspiring or established professional artist. Thinking about the business side of things can be a challenge for artists. Here's a chance to learn about what you don't know, but should! I'm sure we'll all learn a lot from this session. Artistic Prosperity Gallery Opens!

CCAL, in conjunction with the Town of Prosperity, is proud to announce a NEW CCAL public gallery. The Prosperity Town Hall has graciously agreed to host up to 6 pieces per month. September 2017 will be the first month with Prosperity paintings from our 2017 "Let's Paint Chapin, Little Mountain and Prosperity" contest. Works by a new artist will be selected to be featured each month thereafter. Preference will be given to artists from or art about Prosperity where possible. October 2017 Presenter: Gerard Erley

At our October meeting, landscape and portrait Painter Gerard Erley will be doing a demonstration with a live model to preview his technique in advance of the November Portrait Painting Workshop he will be teaching at CCAL. Biography (from his website) Gerard Erley, an Illinois native currently living in South Carolina, has had over two dozen solo exhibits throughout the United States. His award-winning artwork has been exhibited in over 200 juried shows, winning dozens of awards. September 2017 Presenter: Patricia Steele Raible

If you are interested in attending the October 6-7th workshop -Building A Painting- with mixed media abstract artist Patricia Steele Raible, you should plan to attending the first League Meeting on September 18th. Patricia’s demonstration at that meeting will focus on the techniques necessary to prepare the deep wood panels prior to the workshop. Patricia uses joint compound and gypsum to build the substrates and tactile textures in her work which have a longer drying time than a two day workshop will allow. She will be demonstrating the first part of her process at the September meeting to give attendees time to prepare and dry their own panels prior to the workshop. Using kitchen object
