Artist Application

Eligibility:    Participation is open to all artists. All applications received will be thoroughly reviewed and scored by a panel of artists and key community stakeholders. Artists with the highest scoring proposals will be notified by email that their proposal has been accepted. By submitting an application, artists agree to all terms outlined in the CCAL Community Art Project Artist Contract (included in its entirety at the end of this online application form).

CCAL COMMUNITY ART PROJECT APPLICATION

 

Be sure you've included all the required information listed below!

 

Artists may submit up to three proposals on one application. Each proposal must be a single document in MS Word or PDF format (maximum size, 15MB)  and must include:

 

  1. Artist Biography and contact information (name, address, email, phone)

  2. A Statement of Intent that includes all of the following:

  • Details of the intention of the artwork you are proposing, including conceptual motivations

  • Unique installation process requirements, if any

  • Proposed positioning of your turtle on the display post (i.e. option 1, 2, or 3 as shown in the prospectus).  We will try to accommodate your requested preference, but artists are not guaranteed to get their first configuration preference.

  • Description of how you and your work would reflect and support the mission of CCAL, this project and the Town of Chapin

  • Description of how you and your work would interface with and appeal to the public and diverse community in the Town of Chapin

  3. High quality samples of similar style work by the artist including image file, title, media, size and date completed
      (similar in terms of imagery, technique, color – not necessarily on a 3D surface)

  4. Overview, diagrams, and sketches of the proposed artwork including materials and processes to be used

  5. Artist Statement or Curatorial Statement

CCAL COMMUNITY ART PROJECT ARTIST CONTRACT

 

By submitting an application, the artist agrees:

 

  • I have read the Prospectus and agree with all the rules and regulations therein.

  • I will adhere to application requirements, pickup and delivery dates.

  • My artwork will conform to the intent of the project and reflect positively on CCAL and the community.

  • I understand that my artwork will be displayed outdoors and exposed to the elements and it will be developed in such a way to minimize degradation through exposure as much as possible.

  • I understand that members of the public will be likely to interact with my artwork including touching it and it will be developed in such a way to be safe and to withstand light handling without ill effect.

  • I understand that I retain copyright over the design of my artwork.

  • I understand that once the artwork is delivered to CCAL, I relinquish all claims of ownership of the artwork to CCAL to use and/or sell at its discretion.

  • I grant unrestricted rights to CCAL for use of images of the artwork as well as photos and my image in promotional materials related to this project.

  • I agree to participate in the public unveiling of my artwork and to participate in promotion and media coverage of the project if asked.

  • I understand that violations of the guidelines will be reviewed by the Project Committee and/or CCAL Board of Directors and that failure to comply may disqualify me from future CCAL events/competitions.
