2017 Contest: Let's Paint Chapin, Little Mountain and Prosperity

First Place Winner Al Leitch Second Place Winner Ron Weathers Third Place Winner Maureen Carter This year's annual contest, The “Let’s Paint Chapin, Little Mountain and Prosperity” contest, was a great success! We had 24 wonderful pieces submitted. The quality of the artwork was outstanding! It really was hard for everyone to select just three to vote, but three winners were determined by popular vote. The winners were: 1st Place – Al Leitch with “Prosperity Past and Present”, 2nd Place – Ron Weathers with “The Little Church”, and 3rd Place – Maureen Carter with “Down Beaufort Street”. Chapin Farmers Market - Saturday, August 5th, 2017 Time: 8:30am to 11:00am Location: 100 block of Clark Street - Between Columbia Avenue & Beaufort Street Description: Crooked Creek Art League (CCAL) will be participating in the Chapin Downtown Farmer’s Market on Saturday, August 5 at 8:30 am in the 100 block of Clark Street in downtown Chapin. The CCAL booth will be displaying/selling artwork from many members and provide information about the League. CCAL members are artists from all around the Midlands who work in many different media. Spotlight Artist July 2017: Nancy Mandish

"Dogwood Tree on Columbia Avenue" Nancy Mandish is a dentist, a mom, a grandmom, and occasional artist. She enjoys working out at Crooked Creek Park and water skiing on Lake Murray. She has also put in a summer garden for the last several years. Nancy grew up in Ohio, graduated from The Ohio State School of Dentistry, married Craig Mandish - also an OSU graduate whose first job brought them to Columbia, SC. Upon moving to this area, the Mandish's were both attracted to the beauty of Lake Murray and purchased a lot on the lake in Chapin. They eventually built a home on that lot where they've raised their four sons. Nancy maintains her practice in Irmo and Craig is now retired from engine

BB&T Bank on Art Gallery - July-Sept

CCAL, in conjunction with the BB&T, is proud to announce the third quarter artist on display in the "BB&T Bank on Art Gallery". The gallery is located in the lobby of the Chapin BB&T Branch and hosts the artwork of one of Crooked Creek Art League's fine artists. The display in the gallery showcases artwork by Mary Williams. Mary's piece "Hydrangea Cottage: is an oil painting. Artist Bio Mary worked as a nurse for over 30 years taking art classes at every opportunity. She began to draw as a teenager when a bout of bronchitis put her to bed for two weeks. The gift for art has come down through my family: my grandfather painted, my father sculpted birds from wood and my mother could cut out
