First Place Winner

Al Leitch

Second Place Winner

Ron Weathers

Third Place Winner

Maureen Carter

This year's annual contest, The “Let’s Paint Chapin, Little Mountain and Prosperity” contest, was a great success!

We had 24 wonderful pieces submitted. The quality of the artwork was outstanding! It really was hard for everyone to select just three to vote, but three winners were determined by popular vote. The winners were: 1st Place – Al Leitch with “Prosperity Past and Present”, 2nd Place – Ron Weathers with “The Little Church”, and 3rd Place – Maureen Carter with “Down Beaufort Street”. Congratulations to the winners!

It was amazing seeing the variety of wonderful places from throughout the area and hearing all the fascinating historical tales of the various sites. The contest paintings were on display in the TAP Gallery at Crooked Creek Park through June. This contest provided great visibility for the artists and the league and directly supports our mission of educating and encouraging artists and helping to grow the arts in our community. Ann Peake did a great job organizing this contest and definitely deserves our thanks!

Ann will be using all the paintings to create a two year calendar which will be available for sale in the fall when we return. Calendars have always been a popular item and a good fund raiser for us in the past, so plan now to get some for yourself and your Christmas gift giving!

If you missed seeing the display at the TAP Gallery, the Chapin Town Mayor, Skip Wilson and his Director of Communication s and Economic Development, Karen Owens requested select pieces depicting the Chapin area be displayed in the Town Hall. TC, of Palmetto Framing, hung the following paintings in the Chapin Town Hall. They will remain on display until after Labor Day.

Chapin Centennial JJ Casey

Reflections on a Rainy Day Marcia Murray

A number of the other pieces will be on display/sale in the CCAL booth at the August 5th Chapin Farmer's Market. Come see them there!
