About the Artist
Bobbi Sorensen

Bobbi Sorensen is an award-winning artist living in Columbia SC. Working exclusively in oils, she paints people in both non-traditional and formal poses, as well as landscapes and water scenes. She began studying art in College in Los Angeles in the 1960s, earned an art degree from the University of Maryland, and a master’s degree from George Washington University. One of her works created at the U of M was purchased by the University for its permanent collection.
After graduation, Bobbi worked on the US Senate Labor Committee, as a registered lobbyist, and as an association executive for several health-related organizations. She finished out her career as Executive Director of the Washington Center for Psychoanalysis, a training institute affiliated with George Washington University. During these years she limited her artistic endeavors to producing occasional charcoal portraits.
Bobbi semi-retired, moved to SC, and joined the Crooked Creek Art League, which she credits for stimulating her interrupted creative growth. She served as CCAL’s Secretary, Bylaws chair, and as Chair of the Fall Juried Shows at Still Hopes in 2019, 2021, and 2022, as well as the 2025 Annual Juried Show. After finally setting up a home studio and picking up a brush, Bobbi entered CCAL juried shows and has won several awards including first place Amateur in 2020, third place Master’s in 2021, and Best of Show at the 2023 Still Hopes Exhibition.
Other work can be viewed at www.bobbisorensenart.com, on a CCAL online gallery, and at Palmetto Gallery in Chapin.
