This month our presenter, Michael Naughton, will present:
Tracing My Path to Abstract Painting
Or as Mom said, “Where did this talent come from…?”
Talent often feels like a mysterious current running beneath the surface of our lives, quietly shaping what we do and who we become. My own story is a tapestry woven from moments of inspiration, practice, unexpected setbacks, and the subtle ( sometimes not so subtle) influence of people and places along the way. How would you describe in a word or two, "Why do you create art?"
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Michael Naughton
Michael Naughton is the current Crooked Creek Art League President. An acrylic painter, he focuses on abstract pieces in an abstract expressionism style. He calls his art business MTN Lakeshore Gallery, which is an on-line gallery at Https://artist-michaelnaughton.com. His passion for creating art took off at full speed, after a 40+ year career in Human Resources and People Development! Although retired, he is a coach specializing in leadership and life coaching and holds a certification from IPEC. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Michael has lived in the Columbia area since 1994. He and his husband Roger Lindler have resided in Chapin, SC since 2002. They have six adult children and just welcomed their eight grandchild in July, a granddaughter, Connolly Danielle.

A reminder to our members:
Each month, we hold a new themed contest in the TAP Gallery. All CCAL members are invited to participate. Simply create your best piece according to the theme and bring it to hang on the start date listed below. (Be sure to bring your gallery wall label.) Only original works only are permitted in judged theme contests (no prints please). Exhibits typically change the same night as our monthly member meeting. Be sure to take home your artwork at the end of the exhibit!! A monthly Award Winner will be selected and awarded a ribbon for themed exhibits. Happy creating! In order to give our members more time to paint ahead for the TAP Gallery Exhibits, we will be trying to keep a yearly list of upcoming themes published in advance.
