Creative Corner Gallery at Chapin Theatre Opens!

O'Hara's Bakery Cafe Logo

CCAL is thrilled to announce our newest public Gallery host, the Chapin Theatre Company. We are partnering to present visual along with performing arts at the home of the Chapin Theatre Company. The gallery occupies a prominent front corner of the theatre lobby with space for both wall hanging and free-standing art (on a table in the gallery corner). The artwork can be viewed during normal hours of operation.

This exhibit hosts up to 12 wall hanging pieces and free-standing or tabletop easel pieces to fill a 3x6 foot table. This exhibit rotates every three months. Artists are encouraged to donate a portion of any sales back to the Chapin Theatre Company to help support their operations (10% is recommended).

Conveniently located at 830 Columbia Avenue in Chapin, the Theatre Company's building is an inviting space regularly filled with lovers of the arts. Patrons regularly gather in the lobby area before, during intermission and after each performance. In addition, theatre lovers young and old participate in classes and other activities in the space. And now, you can add the enjoyment of beautiful visual artwork to your visit!

The gallery exhibit includes 12 feet of handing artwork and a table full of smaller artwork or 3D pieces. It will host a collection of art by one or more of Crooked Creek Art League's artists on a three month rotation.

CCAL Members can now request an exhibit in this gallery on the online CCAL Public Galleries Artist Assignment Form.

Thank you so much to Jim DeFelice and Manny Moitoso for being a great partners to our community and for helping make the new gallery space come to life!

The inaugural display in the gallery showcases 2D and 3D artwork by local artist, Lisa Alberghini. It is on display now through September.

ARTIST BIO

Lisa Alberghini

Photo of the artist: Lisa Alberghini

I have been an artist for as long as I can remember. I started drawing when I was a little girl and never stopped. My mother was a wonderful artist and my inspiration. I used to watch her draw and paint and was mesmerized by the beautiful drawings and paintings she created. I would draw on any scrap piece of paper I could find as a child. As I got older, I started trying different mediums: charcoal, pencil, chalk, pastels, and then started painting with oils. My mother and I would take an art class occasionally at the local community college and that’s where my love for watercolors began.

The need for art in my life has increased over the years. There is a peace I feel within while painting or drawing. It is my escape from the real world.

Art, for me, is a release into a world of creativity and a time for me to leave the worries of the world behind. When I am painting or drawing, I am totally focused on what I’m working on, and time just passes by.

I love the feeling when a piece is complete. I can’t describe the feeling, but it is a true sense of joy and satisfaction. I am always amazed at the finished piece and know that my talent is a God given talent.

As I get older, I am trying to focus more on painting and drawing. Whether it be a watercolor painting, a Zentangle drawing, or a mural on a wall; my paint brushes and pens are always ready. I still love to dabble in the world of crafts, such as pinestraw baskets, Cairn rock statues, pebble art, vintage jewelry art, jewelry design, gourd art, and rock wrapping, whenever I’m not painting.
