Calling All Artists!

Graphic: CCAL Calling All Artists

Have artwork hanging around your house or studio begging to be shared with the world (and maybe sold)?

Ready to exhibit your art but having difficulties finding a location? Tired of high commissions, extreme fees, and disproportionate percentages of sales charged by galleries, cafes and other art groups? We want to help you - Artwork is meant to be SHARED!!!

In keeping with our mission to encourage and support new and established artists, to educate and encourage each other’s work as well as to help grow the visual art in our community by offering artists avenues to improve skills, display and sell art; the Crooked Creek Art League has, for many years, partnered with a number of business and government facilities around town to increase public exposure to original artwork by local artists. We regularly have more businesses asking to partner with us as Host Galleries, so we are looking for new artists to join in the fun of participating in our public gallery rotation!

These are great exhibits and great opportunities. The hosts promote the value of local and regional artists and their artwork. The viewing public gets greater exposure to the arts and the chance to help support local artists. Visitors regularly tell us how much they value seeing the artwork and how it has helped them develop a better understanding of the true beauty of original art by seeing it in person. In addition, the CCAL provides the artists with free publicity opportunities for all exhibits and shares the artist and artwork extensively on our website and social media.

All CCAL Member Artists are invited to be included in our public galleries. You don't have to be a professional - some artists choose to display their work for exhibition only. If you are interested, just let Sandra Oliver know by email at soliver497@bellsouth.net or by phone at 864-325-2066.

Not currently a CCAL Member? No problem, just submit a membership application HERE. For now, you can still take advantage of our special 2021 COVID rates - all membership dues are currently 50% off. Any new memberships paid now through August 30 cover membership for the remainder of this membership year and next (expiring September 1, 2022).

There are a lot of great reasons to join the CCAL. In addition to participation in our public gallery displays, benefits of membership include:

  • Eligibility to enter our juried exhibit each year (Members in Good Standing, learn more here)

  • Meeting and exchanging creative ideas with other artists

  • Promoting your artwork within CCAL and through our website and events

  • Receiving news of upcoming art related events

  • Enjoying and learning from guest presenters at monthly meetings

  • Enjoying social events with fellow artists (Christmas Party, End of Year Party)

  • Receiving a monthly newsletter from CCAL President

  • Option to show and promote your art in an online personal artist gallery (free for patron members)

For all gallery exhibits, artwork must be suitable for public exhibition in locations where children might be present. So please, no horror, gore, nudes, or overtly political or religious art which might be objectionable to some viewers. All Gallery Hosts reserve the right to reject the display of any pieces of art they deem unsuitable for their venue.

Learn more about all of our current Host Galleries HERE. We have several more galleries in Chapin and Lexington that we are finalizing details for now. Watch for more info about those soon! All but one of our public galleries charge NO commissions or fees to the artist. Potential clients are directed to contact the artist directly and all sales are handled between the artist and buyer.

Helpful stuff:

Note: The artist assumes full liability for any artwork damaged or lost while in transit or on display. Neither CCAL nor the Host Gallery has any obligation to provide reimbursement if an issue should arise while member artwork is on exhibit in a Host Gallery location.
