A Message from Our President
April 1, 2021
Greetings to CCAL Members:
Spring has officially arrived, and trees and flowers are budding and blooming. Hopefully, many
of you have been able to get out to enjoy them and perhaps capture their beauty on canvas or
paper.
Congratulations again to all the award winners in the 2021 Juried Art Exhibit. It was so nice to
be able to meet in person to present the awards. I am also pleased that so many of you did
attend the awards ceremony virtually. Thank you also to all who entered and helped in any
way with the event.
April Meeting
The presenter for the April 19 meeting will be Dru Blair, internationally known South Carolina
airbrush artist and instructor. If you have not seen his work, you are in for a real treat.
Members may begin logging on to Zoom at 6:45pm, and the meeting will begin at 7:00pm.
Donna Reid will be sending Zoom login information to all members on Monday, April 19.
New Members
Please join me in welcoming the new members who joined since the last President’s Letter –
Laurette Kirkland and Amy Kuenzie.

There are still only a few spaces available for Russell Jewell’s "Plein Air: Plain and Simple"
workshop scheduled for April 16-17 workshop. Please register online under
Events/Calendar/Workshops or contact Carol Blackwood, Workshop Coordinator at
carolblackwood@yahoo.com or (803) 603-8634.

Koger Center Exhibit “Field Trip”
Members of the League are invited to the Koger Center on Thursday, April 22, at 11:00am to
view the art in the 1593 Project. Our own Kimberly Case was named the featured exhibitor.
Please let me know by Friday, April 16, if you will be attending. (864) 325-2066 or
soliver497@bellsouth.net
Teaching Opportunity
One of our League members received a telephone call from a parent of a high school son. She
was inquiring about any summer art activities that the League would be providing. Her son is
interested in pursuing his talent in art during the summer. If any of you are interested in
teaching this young man during the summer, please let me know. I can then give you the
parent’s email address so you can contact her.
May Member Annual Contest – SC Feathered Friends and Wildlife
I have heard from many of you who are hard at work on your 2D or 3D art for the May Member
Annual Contest. The completed pieces will be presented and voted on at the May general
meeting. Ribbons will be awarded, and all pieces will be displayed in the TAP Gallery through
the summer. The prospectus is online under Events/Annual Contest.
I hope to see you at the April 19 meeting in your “little Zoom box.” Please stay safe.
Sandra Oliver
