Come see us at the Festival!

Sail into Chapin Visit Our Booth Announcement

Please visit our Booth at the 2019 Chapin Labor Day Festival! The Arts Sail into Chapin is a collaboration between the Crooked Creek Art League (CCAL) and the Town of Chapin. The project has been a year in the making. The concept for the project transformed the Town’s emblematic logo into 13 free standing aluminum sailboats artistically painted and embellished by CCAL artists. Local businesses were invited to serve as Host Sponsors. This highly visible public art display will be on exhibit throughout the months of August and September and will be featured in the 2019 Chapin Labor Day Festival. With over 20,000 visitors each year to this Festival, the project is a wonderful opportunity to show the vital role the arts play in our vibrant community. CCAL will have a booth in downtown Chapin on Clark Street during the Labor Day Festival on Sept 2nd. The public is invited to:

  • Participate in the Scavenger Hunt featuring the sailboats and submit entries at CCAL’s booth for the prize drawing

  • Vote for a People’s Choice winner

  • Purchase Raffle Tickets for an Endless Vitality gift basket valued at over $2100

  • Sign up and bid in the Silent Auction on one or more of the sailboats. All sailboats will be sold during the festival to help offset the cost of the project. Buy one for yourself or to donate to your favorite location so it can continue to beautify the town.

Join the fun by participating in a silent auction to bid on any (or all) of the #sailintochapin sailboats on display. Didn’t make it around to see them all in person? No problem, we’ll have poster sized images of each sailboat in the booth and on the bidding site for you to view. And the best part? You don’t have to be present for a live auction. Bidding will be done electronically at www.accelevents.com/e/TheArtsSailintoChapin. You access it from any computer or mobile browser or bid by text from your phone. Not tech savvy? No problem, just come by the booth and we can help you submit your bid.

All sailboats will be on sale through the close of the Labor Day Festival at 4pm on Monday September 2. Proceeds of the sale will help offset the cost of the project and potentially make future projects possible.

Auction winners will be notified automatically when the auction closes. Winners will have their sailboats delivered to the location of their choice* at the end of September.

*Location must be within 30 miles of Chapin. Approval of the property owner and compliance with applicable laws and restrictions that may apply are required.

Visit our website at CrookedCreekArt.org/Sail-into-Chapin to learn more about the project and all the other activities that are part of all the fun.

Please share to help us spread the word!

CCAL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) and any monies raised from the sale of the sailboats or raffle tickets will be applied to future CCAL community art projects. A philanthropic endowment was used to partially fund the project along with grants from the South Carolina Arts Commission, and the Greater Chapin Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Central Carolina Community Foundation. The project also could not have been undertaken without the outstanding support of the local business community. We see this project as a prime opportunity to promote the partnership between local business and the arts in our community while providing positive public exposure for Chapin. We invite you to join CCAL members and others from the community in supporting growth of the visual arts in the Lake Murray region.
