2019 Contest: "Angels Among Us"
This year's annual contest "Angels Among Us" was presented on Monday May 20. We had a great crowd for our May Meeting and End of Year Party. As usual, we had a fabulous spread of food and a lot of laughter and fellowship. It was a lovely evening with delicious food, exciting ART and lots of fun mingling among the members, friends and spouses. We had 47 members and 6 guests in attendance.
There were 16 wonderful paintings entered with the common theme of "Angels Among Us". The paintings are now hanging in the Tap Gallery of the Crooked Creek Rec Center. It is a wonderfully diverse exploration of this theme. When in the area during the remainder of May, June and July please drop in and view the show.
All members present voted to select the winners. Congratulations go to Bebe Way as the First Place winner with her wonderful painting "Firefighter Angels" dedicated to firefighters everywhere. Second Place went to Shin Wilbanks for a beautiful watercolor of her granddaughter, Ally, in prayer. Third Place went to Dale Bishop for her lovely piece "January 2016" commemorating the heroics that happen when people are faced with natural disasters.
A big "Thank you" to all who participated in making this evening memorable. To those who provided the food - "well done". For all the participating artists - you truly outdid yourselves. We would like to thank each of the artists for sharing your creations and your participation in the event. Thank you too to Melinda Smith who took on the task of planning and running the contest for us this year and to Susan Hawfield for her assistance.
