Marcia Murray is a member of the Crooked Creek Art League who has a
water color painting titled "Avian Artistry" selected to be included in the annual Artfields exhibit in Lake City
When I saw this weathered bird nest on the marsh in Charleston, SC, I knew I had to paint it. The colors in this setting were one of the factors that motivated me to paint this scene. As a child growing up in Charleston, I always had an interest in nature and I could just imagine what kind of bird had lived in such a beautiful setting.
After retiring from AT&T in 1991 as manager, Marcia was able to pursue her love of art full time. She paints exclusively in watercolor and her paintings are driven by curiosity and a desire to create. She is a self-made artist and has studied with many professional artists throughout the U.S. Marcia is a member of Southern Watercolor Society and South Carolina Watermedia Society, and the Crooked Creek Art League serving  as President for two years. She has received many awards and recognition in juried shows and exhibits throughout the state including SC State Fair, Festival of Flowers Floral purchase award and received the "Favorite New Artist" award at the State Artisan Center. She facilitated a group of local beginning and intermediate artists for four years. Her paintings have been published in "SC Homes and Gardens,” “Columbia Living” and” Carolina Arts" and were chosen for the front covers of "Lake Murray Magazine,” "Discover Columbia” and “Park Seed Catalog.” She participated in the "Art on Main" gallery at Tapps in Columbia; exhibited at Columbia Museum of Art, "About Face Show”; and Published "Chapin Glass" a book of stained glass paintings of local churches.
Congratulations to Marcia on having her piece selected. We wish her well in the competition!
