Spotlight Artist January 2019: Joyce Oates

Congratulations to our Spotlight Artist of the Month for January. "High Tide" From the Artist: I enjoy painting lake birds and herons, egrets and ducks are my favorite subject. The Title of this piece is "High Tide" Size - 16X18 inches Media - Oil Price - $180.00 Artist Bio: As the retired postmaster of USPS in Prosperity, S. C., Joyce now has the time to pursue her passion for painting. She paints mainly in oil, but also uses acrylics and watercolors when needed. She has been commissioned to paint portraits, murals, and landscapes. She enjoys painting Lake Murray water birds (ducks, Canadian geese, egrets, and blue herons). ABOUT THE SPEAKER Thornton Kirby By day, Thornton is President and CEO of the South Carolina Hospital Association, a role he has held since 2005. Under Thornton’s leadership SCHA has been an advocate for patients as well as hospitals, earning a national reputation for statewide improvements in quality and safety. South Carolina was the first state to establish “Certified Zero Harm Awards,” which are given annually to hospitals that can demonstrate at least 12 consecutive months without certain types of harm.
