About the Artist:

Born on the coast and raised in the midlands, Nicki developed a love for art at a very young age. She is a third-generation self-taught artist based in Chapin, South Carolina creating original paintings for inspired collectors across the country. Drawing inspiration from everyday surroundings, Nicki paints life with a fresh and playful approach. Unexpected colors and textures and loose lines delight her work. She hopes to portray a balance between subtle realism and loose abstraction by paying attention to a few details while leaving the rest to be imagined. Locally, you can find Nicki’s pieces available in gallery settings like Palmetto Fine arts of Chapin, SC and High Noon of Ballentine, SC. She recently completed a large mural right downtown in the heart of Chapin. Nicki’s medium of choice is acrylics, but she also experiments with mixed mediums. She challenges herself by painting familiar subjects in different ways and with different materials. She especially loves working with designers in marrying original art tailored to the interiors. She resides in Chapin, SC with her husband, A.J. and their two children, Isabelle and Copeland.

Lake Living

People's Choice Award Winner!

When pondering the theme of my turtle, my thoughts were evidently on the lake. Sunsets and boats with turtles popping up in the water and scattered along the shoreline. It’s just part of the beauty of Lake Murray living.

Of course I had to add in a heron, basking in the summer sun. Sailboats in the distance and a gleam on the horizon. It’s meant to capture that last bit of sunlight after a long day at play. I pictured the viewer nestled back in their home, sun-kissed and water-logged, peering out at the water to see the last few boats making their way back in. The essence of life at the lake.
