About the Artist
Rebekah Davis

A Georgia native, I graduated from Clemson University ‘89 and worked as a nurse before moving overseas. A love of the arts was inspired by my mother – watching her paint, write, play piano, and sing in her church choir. At the age of 12, she took me to the National Gallery of Art in D.C., during The American Luminists Exhibition. Viewing the works of revered artists Church & Bierstadt, as well as Hudson River artist Thomas Cole was life changing. Wow! (Cole’s Voyage of Life and Course of Empire series have sat with me all these years and profoundly informed how I view the impact of a single image and the message or story it conveys.) It was soul stirring and I developed a dream to be that kind of artist one day. In my younger adult years, however, the demands of life left little room for creative pursuits. Out of desperation, I took a Photography course, to cope (and fight) a season of depression. It was after my Dad’s passing, that on a whim, I returned to painting. It was comfortably therapeutic and a sweet blessing that sparked a little more life & purpose in me. Since then, my artistic interests have grown & spanned from creating whimsical illustrations with ink & watercolors, to photography, wheel throwing, and more recently, landscape & still life painting. Living in Germany for the better part of 15 years, much of what I create reflects the experience and influence of living in another culture as well as the dynamic journey of my faith in Christ. My work has been shown in small galleries internationally, broadcast on North African television, and featured on a book and a couple of CD covers. Recent exhibitions include Anderson Arts Center’s 51st Annual Juried Art Exhibit, The Illuminated Faith Juried Art Show in Greenville, the SC State Fair, the Crooked Creek Art League Juried Shows with Best of Show 2026 and Legacy of Art Award 2026, and The Pickens County Museum of Art and History 44th Juried Art Exhibition. None of this would be possible without God’s help and guidance and the love and encouragement of my husband, Greg, my children and their families, and a community of sweet friends. Many thanks to CCAL for their wonderful support!
