About the Artist

Linda Cannup

artist Linda Cannup

Linda Drawdy Cannup is a Columbia, SC area native, who specializes in acrylic Modern art style and portrait paintings. She is a self-taught Artist having begun painting in late 2021 and continues to be inspired and influenced through techniques of respected and accomplished Artists.  She also was selected and currently has over 20 pieces of her work displayed in the Art Uncorked Exhibit in Sakitumi Grill and Sushi Bar located in the Vista District, Columbia SC. She participates in community events such as painting live during Vista Lights and during Artista Vista.  She spent a great deal of time working on commissioned requests and has completed pieces for clients in regions from south Florida to the state of Oregon; but as of recent, enjoys mostly focusing on speaking her own voice without a structured agenda.

As an emerging and self-taught artist, I consider myself in the discovery phase of how to choose my words visually, what tone to speak visually, my story and its message visually; all to unite my audience with emotions we commonly share yet sometimes harbor. I enjoy coloring outside of the lines by twisting the expected just to give it flare that make you think…. wait, what?!

I enjoy burst of color and broad strokes that pull you in from across the room with curiosity and leave you finding enough detail to tell the story and leave you pondering, “huh, where did that come from?”
