About the Artist

Rajas Londhe

artist Rajas Londhe

Born and raised in India, Rajas began her career as a self-taught artist, drawing and painting as a youth.  She moved to the US after getting married and lived primarily in Orangeburg, SC.  She moved to Irmo, SC after retirement from SCSU to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Over the years she continued her quest for learning arts by attending several workshops sponsored by the Crooked Creek Art League in Chapin, SC. She also worked with private artists to learn many new techniques and has been able to enhance her artistic skills. Rajas really enjoys meeting different artists and learning their unique styles and techniques. But she also likes making new artist friends at these workshops.

Rajas says that “my favorite interest in arts is the mixed media.  The workshops that I attended helped me to explore the intriguing and challenging world of mixed media.  Creating unique art objects is my ultimate goal.” Although she likes mixed media, she has started painting in oil and acrylic, mostly on landscape subjects.

Rajas has won several jurors and purchase awards at the South Carolina State Fair art show. Additionally, she won juried award at Crooked Creek Art League’s Annual Art Show. For Rajas, painting is simply a cherished hobby.
