Artist Bio
Monica Jacobs

Being thoughtful of technique, scale and incorporation of imagery & emotion - either personal or collective - my artwork has evolved through a combination of methods - primarily printmaking & photography, having received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the University of Wyoming.
One of my artworks may be composed using a single technique or by the overlapping of multiple printmaking techniques (Intaglio, Woodcuts, Linocuts, Paper Litho, Monotypes &/or Monoetchings) or photographic (B/W, Abstract, Arch. &/or Still). Some works become deeply layered compositions, revealing new details and interpretations upon repeated viewing. Though most of my artworks are created on a smaller scale, this is to encourage the viewer to become more intimate with the piece, search for recognizable imagery, to craft dialogue or formulate their own perspective from the work. Inspiration stemming from personal experiences, memories, relationships & dreams as well as the world around me, social movements, human reactions or global events.
Over the years I have participated in various printmaking exhibitions, focusing on my backbone institutions which have cultivated my career growth and encouraged the style & iconography of conceptual, surrealist and figurative forms.
Exhibitions post academic have been showcased in countries such as Bulgaria, United Kingdom, Denmark, the Republic of North Macedonia, Austria, Mexico, France, Spain, and Japan; and nationally such as Oregon, California, Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, Louisiana, Maryland, and New York.
