Artist Bio
Helga Rippen

Dr. Helga Rippen is a multidisciplinary photographer, artist, and maker based in South Carolina. Through her studio, Her Escapades, she creates handcrafted works in wood, resin, and photography inspired by lake life, natural environments, and moments of quiet reflection. Her work emerges from a practice shaped equally by intuition and analysis. With formal training as an engineer, physician, and public health leader, Helga brings a sensitivity to structure, precision, and experimentation into her artmaking. This background informs a process that values close observation and material exploration, allowing light, water, and organic forms to guide the final work. Across both photographic and handcrafted pieces, she seeks to create spaces for stillness and attentive looking—inviting viewers into a slower, more reflective engagement with the natural world.
