Lotus Mind & Body Gallery - Bobbi Mann

Crooked Creek Art League is pleased to welcome Lotus Spa as a new Public Gallery site. A league member will showcase two pieces of art for a two-month period. The featured artist for August is Bobbi Mann. Bobbi is an award-winning artist and currently serves as vice president for the League.

About the Art

"Remarkable" - 36" x 48", acrylic on canvas, $800

"Remarkable" is inspired by Marcellus, the octopus in the book by Shelby Van Pelt and film based on it, "Remarkably Bright Creatures". After seeing it, the movie inspired me to find out more about these fascinating creatures. I was watching this guy, who managed to hide a good bit of his bulbous head while trying to blend in with the rocks. I tried to capture the fluidity of his movement, mirroring the sea current.

"Symbiotic Sea" - 48" x 36", acrylic on canvas, $800

'Symbiotic Sea' is a painting of a turtle but also a tiny seahorse attached to living coral. I was remembering the incredible variety, movement and color of the tropical marine life I saw just under the surface of the water while snorkeling in the Abaco Islands (Bahamas) off Green Turtle Cay many years ago. We think of the beach with sand, umbrellas, people, but just a few feet away lies a completely different world. Like us, these creatures reach for light.

About the Artist

Bobbi Mann

Bobbi Mann is an award-winning artist who works in acrylic, oil, and watercolor.

Bobbi retired from Aetna CVS as an Underwriting Manager and holds a BA in Language Arts from the University of South Carolina.

Over the years, Bobbi has taken a variety of online and in-person workshops and classes. She enjoys learning new techniques and is grateful to the artists who generously share their time, talent, and expertise.

Living on Wateree Creek in Chapin, Bobbi draws inspiration from the sights and sounds of nature. She enjoys time with her family and dogs, who often become subjects of her paintings. She also performs with Musical Break, singing at senior living and rehabilitation facilities, parties, and special events.

The Lotus Mind & Body Gallery is located in the Lobby and Nail room of the spa. The art can be viewed during their normal business hours.

The rotating exhibit of fine art showcases a wide variety of mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media and photography. Originals and prints can be discovered here with new displays every month. Each piece of art is labeled with the artist's contact information.

This exhibit features two pieces by a single artist each month.
