Congratulations to Jean Marie Baldwin for being having her watercolor, "Morning's Catch II," accepted into the American Watercolor Society's 2026 Associate's Member Online Exhibition.

Artist Jean Marie Baldwin
Jean Marie Baldwin started working in watercolor 35 years ago and quickly become fascinated by the medium. She had previously worked in oil, acrylic and pastel, but none of these media provided the excitement of watercolor.
In addition to taking a few workshops with Janet Rogers and Skip Lawence, she has continued to teach herself using books and videos by Charles Reid.
Her interest is in guiding the paint and water on the paper just enough to let the paper, paint and water do most of the work. She loves the transparency of watercolor and finds it to be a medium in which she can paint directly, using rich color and bold strokes and, at the same time, achieving softness and fluidity.
While she has painted many landscapes and still life, during the past few years, she is most attracted to doing portraits. Nothing else keeps her attention as well as painting the human face.
