In Memory of Faye Delia Meetze

Founding Members at the First CCAL Meeting

Founding CCAL members and guest speaker at first CCAL meeting. President, Faye Meetze , is at the left.

Crooked Creek Art League lost a founding member when Faye Delia Meetze passed away on June 13. She was a long-time resident of Chapin, and her contributions to art in the midlands and the art league will be missed. Tributes to Faye have been received from fellow founding members, Frances Burris and Ingrid Carson, as well as in-coming CCAL President, Michael Naughton.

"Faye was a good friend and neighbor.  I will miss our art sessions in her studio.  We also worked at the fair and shared rides to work.  Art is what brought us together."

Frances Burris, CCAL Founding Member

"I would like to share how much Faye will be missed by those of us who worked with her during the early days of CCAL.  We spent many hours in meetings and on the phone just as I know you and the board continue to do.  Faye, Frances, and I were among the original 7 founders who got together to paint at the Park.  We commissioned Craig Carlson to teach classes every Tuesday for several years.  Faye also was in the group who took workshops with Ilona Royce Smithkin.  Faye’s art is mostly oil on canvas.  She focused on still life’s, landscapes, and portraits.  I remember her as a sincere, kind, and genuine friend.  She will be missed."

Ingrid Carson, CCAL Founding Member

"My condolences go out to the family and friends of Faye Delia Meetze, one of our CCAL Founding Members.  CCAL is now celebrating 35 years, which is quite a legacy that Faye and her co-founders have built for us.  I did not have the opportunity to meet Faye, but I have seen some of her beautiful landscape paintings over the years.  Our current CCAL membership will continue to do our best work to honor and keep building on what Faye and the other founding artists started so long ago."

Michael Naughton, CCAL President

A Memorial Service will be held at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC, on June 20 from 1:00-2:00pm. www.templeshalloranfuneralhome.com
