About the Artist
John Taylor

I was born and raised in Columbia, SC. I graduated from Clemson University in 1966 with a degree in Architecture and practiced this profession for over fifty years until retiring in 2018. Currently my wife of 61 years, Claudia, and I live in Columbia, SC. We have three children, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. All our family lives fairly close by and we enjoy spending time with them, especially the great grandchildren.
I began painting oils as one of my courses at Clemson. However, after graduation I moved on to other interests which have included skiing, sailing, racing sports cars, flying as a private pilot, and golf, with golf being the only activity to survive. Now I play golf and paint, while Claudia and I enjoy dining out and traveling with friends.
I began more actively painting about three years ago and enjoy a variety of subjects including landscapes, wildlife and action figures. I work in oils and lean more towards impressionism using brush and pallet knife on canvas. Claudia tells me I paint too many barns, but that’s ok, I enjoy them all.
