I think artists create because beauty is enhanced when it's shared. I see something beautiful and I want to paint what I see so that the feeling I get and the beauty I see can be shared with others. It's so much sweeter!

My paintings begin long before the first brush stroke on the canvas. A walk in the woods, a stroll through a garden, a drive through the countryside is the beginning and inspiration for each painting. I move closer, viewing what is before me from less common perspectives and taking note of small details. How the light plays on different surfaces and the feeling I get from being there all resonate in my heart and mind eventually becoming a finished painting. My goal is to bring attention to this beauty so that it resonates with others in a similar way.

Rachael began her professional artistic pursuits 23 years ago being represented by Lyons Share Gallery in Fairhope, Alabama as well as other fine galleries in the southeast. She grew up on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay near Fairhope which is known for its active art community. This influenced her at a young age and dreams of becoming an artist grew from that exposure and her mother’s love of the arts. The youngest of five, Rachael followed the family tradition by attending the University of Alabama, earning her degree in Interior Design. Rachael has enjoyed entering competitions and juried shows because of the challenge they offer to strive for excellence and try things that will help her grow as an artist. As a result, a number of her pieces have been juried in shows and have won awards. Rachael continues to learn and grow as a professional artist and currently resides in South Carolina on beautiful Lake Murray, an area which inspires many of her current paintings.
