Contemporary Floral Oil Painting & Color Theory Workshop
In this workshop we will create a still life using an abundant amount of florals in vintage vases on patterned tablecloths. A variety of vintage vases and patterned tablecoths will be set up.
We will spend the first morning painting in your sketchbook using gouache. We'll explore a variety of color theory exercises, looking at analogous colors, complimentary, split complimenatry, tetrad and tertiary colors. Working on small little paintings in your sketchbook, we'll apply some of these color compositions. Then we'll explore a variety of mark-making techniques. These studies will painted in your sketchbook using gouache.
We'll be looking at how Henri Matisse and Wolf Kahn use color in their art to create an engaging painting.
