About the Artwork
Title: ""Good Morning Sunshine"
Size: 20" x 16"
Morning sunlight enters the Art Party Studio in Dutchman Shores in Chapin where painting allows me to fall into the face of a flower, to touch yesterday, to behold a landscape and briefly walk with my Creator.
Ruby developed a love of nature growing up in a history book on Blackstock Road in Union County. Stories of the Revolutionary War and the Battle of Blackstock where often told. Tales of Old Bloody Bill Cunningham could conjure up nightmares. She, her sister and cousins enjoyed walks along old Indian trails, through woodlands and open fields discovering wildflowers and observing landscapes with waves of wheat blowing in the wind, making grasshoppers spit their tobacco, whistling bobwhite bird calls, and viewing the smoky blue mountains horizon sunrises and sunsets at Appalachian Foothills. Passionate feelings direct her brush in oil, watercolor and acrylic mediums. After 40 years as an educator, Ruby retired, cleaned out her attic, hired a contractor to add a dormer and created an art studio where she has written and illustrated two children's books. Earth Turns on Its Axis and.Growing Little Green Thumbs (SC Book Festival Selection). Appalachian Morning, her third book, is a novelette describing growing up at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The G.R.O.W! theme of Great Readings Open Worlds echoes through all her books. A fourth book, Playing in the Dirt, was just published and is available at The Coffee Shelf and Palmetto Fine Arts in the Food Lion Shopping Center. Ruby's art can be found at The Irmo Library in May and Palmetto Fine Arts in Chapin in June and July. She continually adds to her Wild Things and Lucky In Love series. In 2015 designing lamps became an artful pursuit. If you're in need of a lamp Reimagined by Ruby, a children's book, a piece of art for your home or a gift, email her at firstname.lastname@example.org and stop by and meet Ruby in person.
