November 2019 Presenter: Sara Schneckloth

We invite you to join us at our next meeting on November 18, 2019 for food, fun and fellowship! Our presenter this month will be Sara Schneckloth. Sara will show drawings from current projects underway, including work from the San Juan Basin badlands of New Mexico. “Since 2014, I have made artwork centering on the natural landforms and vernacular architecture of the American Southwest. I have recently started integrating materials I collect by hand from the landscape into my drawings, including natural charcoals and a range of iron oxide pigments. We kicked off our workshop season with a fun and colorful workshop with Laura Pollak. What a great master of achieving color and light using pastels! We had a full house once again and it was was enjoyed by all. Thank you Laura for teaching us so much! The following photos are from the workshop held October 11-12, 2019. Ceremony Dedicating "Serenity" to CCP

On a very windy Wednesday evening, as part of The Arts Sail into Chapin Project, the Crooked Creek Art League dedicated the sailboat "Serenity" at Crooked Creek Park. Barbara Teusink welcomed guests and introduced the sculptor Steven Reed, the painter Roger Buenzow, and the donors Lake and Ashley Boulton of Lake Murray Boat and RV Storage. We have a new winner in our Sept/Oct TAP Gallery display! The Blue Ribbon Winner in The Artist's Place Gallery competition for this month is Shin Wilbanks with her lovely painting, "Heron". Crooked Creek Art League members did quite well at the State Fair again this year with many artists participating and quite a few winners! Congratulations to the many CCAL artists who were juried in to have their fine pieces exhibited and especially to those with awards and prizes won! Our Spotlight Artist of the Month in the Chapin Chamber of Commerce this month is: Karen Larrabee! Please join us in congratulating Karen on her wonderful artwork! "Back into the Woods II" Mixed Media Painting, 25"w x 33"h $400 About the Artwork: This is a mixed media piece that incorporates a 2 block/2 color, wood cut block print, water color, and collage. After I started doing small, 1 of a kind, collage cards, I thought it would be fun to enlarge the process and decided to use new prints from wood blocks I had carved back in my college days. The Coffee Shelf Gallery Opens!

CCAL, in conjunction with The Coffee Shelf, is proud to announce the grand opening of "The Coffee Shelf Gallery". The gallery is located in the lobby of The Coffee Shelf at 130 Amicks Ferry Road in Chapin. It will host the artwork of two of Crooked Creek Art League's fine artists on a two month rotation. The store owner, Jerry has been a longtime supporter of the arts in Chapin and we are thrilled to be working with him to showcase more art in town. For more on the gallery, click HERE. CCAL in the 2019 Union County Arts Council Juried Art Show
