An Outstanding Reception

A great time was had by all at this year's Juried Show Reception. Our co-chairs, Ann Peake and Kay Young, really outdid themselves and oh, did Melinda Smith arrange to feed us well with a beautiful spread. So many were involved in making this a fabulous show and we thank them all!! April 2019 Presenter: Lee Monts

Please join us at our April 15, 2019 meeting for food, fun and fellowship! Our presenter this month will be Lee Monts. ABOUT THE SPEAKER Lee Monts Lee creates contemporary abstracted landscape paintings on canvas, paper and board. His primary medium is acrylic, but he also works with watercolor, ink, oil and mixed media. A native of Chapin, South Carolina, his formal education is in geology, having a B.S. degree from the College of Charleston and a M.S. degree from the University of South Carolina. The exhibit is rich in talent and diversity and ALL the artists deserve congratulations for their pieces. In addition, it takes many hours to plan and hold the show each year. Many volunteers donated many hours to make it possible and they all deserve our thanks and congratulations as well. We are so fortunate to have a long time partner in Palmetto Fine Arts. With a dedicated space, CCAL artists are always part of the great displays of Fine Art in the gallery at Palmetto Fine Arts. Spotlight Artist March 2019: Al Leitch

Congratulations to our Spotlight Artist of the Month for March: Al Leitch! "Marsh Beauty" Artist Bio: With engineering and business degrees, I pursued an academic career where: I held endowed professorships, taught thousands of students, published over 60 articles, and coauthored three books. I renewed my love of art upon retirement from USC by taking numerous workshops. I have been active in the Columbia art community serving as workshop coordinator, Vice President and President of the Crooked Creek Art League. CCAL congratulates longtime member, Ruth DiMirra, for her wonderful display this month at the Chapin Library Artist Gallery. The gallery is located in the Chapin Branch of the Lexington County Library and hosts the artwork of one of Crooked Creek Art League's fine artists each month.
