Exciting News! CCAL Launches All New Fall Exhibition

CCAL is proud to announce the addition of an all new Fall Exhibition!! The Exhibition will be held at the Shearhouse Wellness Center at Still Hopes. The exhibit will be open to all artists (CCAL Members in Good Standing will have a discounted entry fee). First through third place prizes will be awarded. Come join the fun!! Entries will be accepted online. The show is limited to 50 pieces. Artwork will be juried into the show by award winning artist, Anne Hightower Patterson White. Artistic Prosperity Artist August 2018: Karen Larrabee

Crooked Creek Art League congratulates Karen Larrabee for her one man exhibit at the Prosperity Town Hall. Her artwork will be on display now through the end of August. Artist's Statement: Art, whether drawing or painting, is a means of expressing my vision, thoughts and feelings in a personal way. Even though I have painted using a variety of media – oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, charcoal, and pencil – I find watercolors to be the most challenging, fulfilling, difficult, and at times least forgiving. Through watercolors I have learned to see the shadows and the variations in color in my subject. While painting a landscape is fun and relaxing, I have found that I always return to pain

Spotlight Artist August 2018: Karen Larrabee

Congratulations to our Spotlight Artist of the Month for July: Karen Larrabee! "Let Me Think" About This Piece: "LET ME THINK" is a graphite portrait of my granddaughter. As stated below, I usually do more colorful, loose, watermedia paintings, but sometimes I just need to remind myself that I can draw. In this case, I loved this typical pose and the mainly black and white composition that showcased her expression. It all compelled me to create the drawing. I did leave out the busier background of the original snapshot in order to focus on her.
