2018 Contest: "Its Your Choice!"

This year's annual contest "It's Your Choice" was presented on Monday May 21. It was a great evening at the lovely Chapin Town Hall activity room in combination with our "End of the Year Get Together" We only wish all members of the League could have been in attendance. It was a lovely evening with delicious food, exciting ART and lots of fun mingling among the members, friends and spouses. We had 40 members and 10 guests in attendance. All 18 paintings from the "It's Your Choice" show are now hanging in the Tap Gallery of the Crooked Creek Rec Center. It is a beautiful display of venues around the State of South Carolina. Spotlight Artist June 2018: Judy Matras

Congratulations to our Spotlight Artist of the Month for June: Judy Matras! "Poás Crater Lake" About This Piece: This impressionistic piece is based a view of the Poás Crater Lake at the top of the Poás Volcano in Costa Rica. It is oil on a panel. This striking view was one of many beautiful scenes we enjoyed during a visit to Costa Rica. The Poás Volcano, is an active 2,708-meter stratovolcano in central Costa Rica and is located within Poás Volcano National Park. It has erupted 40 times since 1828, including April, 2017 when visitors and residents were evacuated. 2017-2018 Outstanding Member of the Year: Ron Weathers

CCAL is happy to recognize Ron for all the wonderful things he has done to support the league. Each year, CCAL recognizes a special member who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to benefit the league. They are recognized by the membership for the important work they have done in addition to any assigned duties. Ron is a longtime member who has much for the league for many years. We owe him our gratitude for sure! He was nominated by two people this year for the award.
