Marcia Murray is a member of the Crooked Creek Art League who has a water color painting titled "Avian Artistry" selected to be included in the annual Artfields exhibit in Lake City this year. "Avian Artistry" Artist Statement When I saw this weathered bird nest on the marsh in Charleston, SC, I knew I had to paint it. The colors in this setting were one of the factors that motivated me to paint this scene. As a child growing up in Charleston, I always had an interest in nature and I could just imagine what kind of bird had lived in such a beautiful setting. Artist Bio After retiring from AT&T in 1991 as manager, Marcia was able to pursue her love of art full time. She paints exclusively in

Olga Yukhno is a member of the Crooked Creek Art League who has a pottery piece selected to be included in the annual Artfields exhibit in Lake City this year. The installation is called Meditations and it will be displayed at the ROB from April 20 to 28. People can vote for as many pieces as they like. Here is a beautiful description of her sculpture. MEDITATIONS The concept of Meditations is the idea of using art as a way of being present, and in the moment. I have been an artist almost all my life, and have worked with so many different media, and in so many different styles, that sometimes the focus moves away from just enjoying the creation process. This piece is a spiritual experiment

"Crooked Creek Red Fox" Bio/Artist Statement:
I'm a retired forester with a passion for nature photography. I've been an avid photographer since 1974, when I purchased a good SLR camera just before leaving fo a two year stint in Niger with the Peace Corps. Over the years I've entered several photo contests, and won a few. I've also upgraded my equipment on a regular basis, and now use digital cameras exclusively. I strive for a simple and striking composition. I like the subject to dominate the frame. I try to focus on the eyes and bring out the character of the subject. Birds, butterflies and frogs are my usual subjects because they find my backyard an attractive habitat.
