February 2018 Presenter: Michael Story

Our presentation for the February 19th meeting will be Michael Story. A nationally recognized local artist, Michael will discuss a range of critical elements to his process and use of color. Biography (from his website) Michael Story is an award-winning artist who regularly teaches pastel and oil painting, guest lectures, and juries art shows. His landscape paintings have been featured in numerous publications, gracing the cover of South Carolina Wildlife, South Carolina Business, Lexington Life, Sandlapper, and Palmetto Banker magazines. Chapin Library Gallery - January 2018

CCAL is happy to announce that Sonya Diimmler has a multi-piece display in the Chapin Library Artist Gallery. The gallery is located in the Chapin Branch of the Lexington County Library and hosts the artwork of one of Crooked Creek Art League's fine artists each month. Sonya's display showcases her "Smedley" series which features the adorable bulldog and his friends. Artist Bio Sonya has been painting since 2015. In that time, she has studied with Michael Story, Mary Bentz Gilkerson, her mother Ann Sweeney and attended numerous workshops. Her work is largely focused on animal portraits and landscapes. BB&T Bank on Art Gallery - Jan-Mar 2018

CCAL, in conjunction with the BB&T, is proud to announce the third quarter artist on display in the "BB&T Bank on Art Gallery". The gallery is located in the lobby of the Chapin BB&T Branch and hosts the artwork of one of Crooked Creek Art League's fine artists. This quarter, the display in the gallery showcases artwork by Karen Larrabee. Karen's piece "Just Breathe" is a mixed media painting. Spotlight Artist Jan 2018: Faye Delia Meetze

Artist Bio: Faye Delia Meetze, a native of Lexington County S.C, resides with her husband on Lake Murray near Chapin.. Although she has received no formal art education, she has been greatly influenced by nationally known impressionist oil painter, Ilona Royce-Smithkin, pastel artist, Jason Chang of New York, and portrait artist, Craig Carlson. Over the years she has attended workshops too numerous to mention. As one of the founding members of the Crooked Creek Art League, Faye served as secretary and chaired many committees. She received the Crooked Creek Art League’s Outstanding Member Award in 1999 and the Best of Show Award in 2004. She has received awards for her work in colored penc
