We had a wonderful Christmas Party at our December meeting on Monday, December 18, 2017. A great big THANK YOU to Ron and Carol Weathers for hosting this annual event for us again this year!! They are so generous to open their lovely home to us all and we owe them our gratitude. A great big thank you too to everyone that helped in planning and running the evening: Karen, Adrianna, Brian, Kay, Mary Beth, Alison, CJ and Lisa. We had a good crowd with 33 members and 11 guests. We all shared a great spread of delicious food and a lot of fun and fellowship.

January 2018 Presenter: Marissa Vogl

Charleston Artist and Gallery Owner Marissa Vogl will be doing a demonstration in advance of the February Workshop she will be teaching for CCAL. Learn more about the workshop by clicking HERE. BIOGRAPHY (from her website) Marissa was born and raised in Montana where a love for the outdoors instilled an emotional connection to the landscape. She currently lives in Charleston, SC painting the marsh, children at the beach or tractors on a construction site. Her use of thick paint and bold brush strokes brings an emotional vitality into her work. Marissa studied graphic design / fine art at Montana State University. She has studied under artists such as Bill Davidson and Karen Hewitt Hagan.

Artistic Prosperity Artist December 2017: Mary Williams

Mary Williams is recognized by the Crooked Creek Art League for her multi piece exhibit at the Prosperity Town Hall for December 2017. (click on any image to view larger) Artist Statement: "The gift for art has some down through my family. My grandfather painted landscapes,my father sculpted birds from balsa wood and my mother could cut out and sew dress without a pattern. Many of my commissions have been portraits. I strive to reflect the spirit and personality of the subject as well as the likeness. When painting a still life or landscape I strive to paint the essence of the object or place."
