Joe Slade

Joe is a member and past president of Crooked Creek Art League in Chapin SC.  He has been involved in art and watercolor painting since 1965.  In 1972 he chose watercolor as his medium of choice. 

 

Professionally Joe worked in the Dept of Mental Health in Education.  His students learned how to do pastoral care and counseling.  He is now retired.  He is married to Mary Dowling Slade.

 

He has studied watercolor with numerous watercolorists in the Columbia SC area,  starting  with Robert Mills in the early 1970’s.  His subjects tend toward landscapes and still lifes.  He has taught watercolor at the beginning level at Crooked Creek Park Chapin.

 

He most recently won the Palmetto Excellence in Art Award in theannual competition with Crooked Creek Art League
