Nancee's love of art and drawing began in grade school in the suburbs of Philadelphia. A career in business and then marriage and children took precedence. However, her passion for painting pastel portraits began 35 years ago when living in Orchard Park, NY. For 4 years she studied in the classes of a local artist painting live models in pastel. During that time she set up a studio at home and did numerous commissions of neighbors' children. Then once again art was put aside when the family moved to the Boston, MA area for 18 years. Since then, with a move to Florida and now Chapin, there has been lots of time to take workshops with notable artists such as Tom Nash, Dawn Whitelaw and Craig Srebnik. Oil painting landscapes and still life material have also been a pleasure recently. The first juried art show she entered was at Crooked Creek two years ago and has won honorable mention two years in a row. She has been accepting portrait commissions for the past five years. She is a member of The Portait Society of America and also a member of About Face at the Columbia Art Museum. Nancee Nixdorf |
