Julie Brown

Julie has been an artist for over 25 years. During high school, she focused on learning to work in all forms of media, but eventually found her niche with the pastel medium after taking her first class while living in Spartanburg from the renowned master pastelist, Claire Hopkins. She went on to study art at the Maryland Institute, College of Art.

Julie has exhibited her work and won numerous awards in the South Carolina State Fair, the Union County Arts Council, McCormick Arts Council, Anderson Arts Center, and the Crooked Creek Art League. She is also a regular participant in Columbia’s Historic Elmwood Park Annual Home Tour as one of the artists on the porches. Julie served as past President of the Crooked Creek Art League and is currently on the board. Presently, Julie is emerging back into one of her favorite mediums of acrylic painting.
